Girish Kamath is by profession, an IT consultant. In his free time he enjoys Photography and dabbling in various open source software, especially CMS systems like Drupal.
Photography
Girish got introduced to the world of photography in 1990 when he was presented with a Japanese disposable camera. He used this camera to capture his memories of college life. Even today those photographs bring back good memories.
Girish's passion for photography got re-ignited in Dubai, where his flight had landed on his way to London in 1997. He spent almost half of the allowance his company had given him on a Olympus film camera. This camera served him well to capture his travel around United Kingdoms.
Girish entered the world of Digital photography in 2003 when he finally purchased a Nikon Coolpix 3100. This tiny camera was a gem of a camera, capable of taking beautiful photos. Even today, his friends find it hard to believe some of his photos were taken with this point and shoot camera. Girish spent most of his free time reading about photography and various techniques.
In 2005, Girish decided to take his hobby to the next level and invested in his first Digital SLR, Nikon D70. This opened a whole new world for Girish for capturing light and this website brings some of his favorite shots to his friends and family.
Drupal
Ever since Girish got bitten by the photography bug, he wanted to share his photos to his friends and family. He stumbled across Gallery, an open source software which was very powerful photo gallery software. He uses this at his personal album. At the same time, he also discovered various open source content management system (CMS) like Joomla, Mambo and Drupal. However, Drupal caught Girish's eye as it has a huge community and was very versatile. Today, Drupal is at version 7 and still going strong. Many large companies are using Drupal internally and on the internet.
Photography and Drupal
In 2012, Girish decided to bring together these two passions together in form of this website. Using Drupal 7 and his favorite photographs, Girish has built a platform to display his photographs as well his understanding of Drupal CMS.
